Indira Rasoi Yojana

  1. News: CM Ashok Gehlot(Rajasthan), launched the new kitchen scheme in the name of former PM Indira Gandhi.
  2. Aim:
    • It provides healthy and nutritious food to needy and poor people at a very low price, twice a day at a very low cost.
    • It covers 1.34 lakh people per day in the state.
  3. Rajasthan government has a provision to spend ₹100 crores in the scheme every year.
  4. Scheme implementation will be inspected by District Collector.

Similar scheme launched by previous government and other states are:

  1. Annapurna Rasoi Yojana(2016) was initiated by the previous Rajasthan BJP government where food is provided for rupees 5 ( Breakfast) and 8 (Lunch).
  2. Amma Unavagam(mother’s canteen) scheme of Tamil Nadu

Ranthambore National Park

  1. News: In the Ranthambore NP, Tigress T-144 gives birth to two cubs.
  2. Located: Sawai Madhopur(Rajasthan)
  3. Area: 1,334 sq. Km
  4. The national park is bounded by the river Banas in the north and Chambal in the south.
  5. Main features of Ranthambore NP:
    • Former royal hunting ground
    • Home to Tiger and Marsh crocodiles
    • Ganesh Mandir
    • Padam Talao Lakes

AYUSH Colleges in Rajasthan

  1. There are only 3 Government AYUSH Colleges in Rajasthan which are – 
    1. University College of Ayurveda is Located in Jodhpur.
    2. MMM Government Ayurvedic University is Located in Udaipur.
    3. Unani Government University is Located in Tonk.

Bisalpur Dam

  1. In News – Water from the dam is evaporated at a high rate even after huge government investment to reduce it.
  2. Bisalpur Dam is a gravity dam on the Banas River near Deoli, Tonk.
  3. Benefited Districts:
    1. Drinking water: Jaipur, Ajmer, Tonk, Nagaur.
    2. Irrigation: Tonk
  4. Constructed in the 1990s by the Rajasthan state government. During the construction, the people displaced by the dam protested against the state government’s rehabilitation and resettlement policy, calling it unjust.
  5. The project was co-financed by the Asian Development Bank(ADB) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA).
  6. ADB financed the transmission system (including purification), while JICA financed the transfer system with an 8.88 billion yen 30-year loan at an interest rate of 1.3%.

Olympics Tokyo 2021

  1. The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXII Olympiad, and also known as Tokyo 2020, is an upcoming international multi-sport event scheduled to be held from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Tokyo, Japan.
  2. About Olympics
    1. The Summer Olympic Games also known as the Games of the Olympiad, are a major international multi-sport event normally held once every four years. The Games were first held in 1896 in Athens, Greece, and were most recently held in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Padma Shri Award to Oinam Bembem Devi ( Durga )

  1. Oinam Bembem Devi is an Indian footballer born in Imphal in Manipur
  2. She was nicknamed the “Durga of Indian Football” and is currently involved in spreading awareness about Women’s football in India.
  3. Oinam Bembem Devi is the recipient of India’s highly prestigious award Padma Shri 2020.
  4. Other Awards
    1. She got Arjuna Award by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in 2017
